Conversa en Moviment emerges from CASCADAS, an ongoing research project initiated by Júlia Rúbies Subirós that investigates and foregrounds intergenerational exchange and informal knowledge transmission within Barcelona’s experimental contemporary dance scene. Within this framework, artistic practice is treated as a site of direct dialogue between generations of makers. It utilizes lived experiences, personal lineages, and shared histories as central, active choreographic material.

 Commissioned by the Sâlmon Festival, the work bypasses the traditional format of a lecture or a traditional, paper archive demonstration. Instead, Rúbies Subirós invites deeply revered choreographer Carme Torrent, of an earlier generation than hers, into a performative duet structured entirely around presence, touch, and spoken improvisation. The performance unfolds through a visceral movement dialogue grounded in sensory awareness, acute listening, and collective attention, while they maintain a lively chat. Throughout the encounter, their conversation (associative, fragmentary, and memory-driven) weaves together reflections on their distinct training histories, the changing socio-political landscape of Barcelona’s art scene, and the immediate context of the presentation. Through this intense interplay of speech, touch, and physical proximity, the duet becomes a living somatic map. It transforms the theatre space into an active, unfolding archive where both the performers' shared histories and the audience are integrated as active participants.
